TITLE: US 61 in Jackson County

DISCUSSION/BACKGROUND:

Due to the construction and realignment of US 61 in Jackson County, the official description of US 61 in Jackson County should be changed in the Primary Road System to reflect this.

Transfer of jurisdiction 96-TJ-008 then transferred a portion of former US 61 from Clinton-Jackson county line north to a point 222 meters (729 feet) south of the center line of relocated US 61 (as measured along the center line of former US 61), a distance of approximately 0.85 kilometers (0.53 mile) to Jackson County on January 31, 1997.

PROPOSAL/ACTION RECOMMENDATION:

It is recommended the old description for US 61 in Jackson County be deleted from the Primary Road System and the new description, as described in the attachment, be added to the Primary Road System

New Description - US 61 and its extension in Jackson County described as follows:

Beginning on the Jackson-Clinton County line at a point near the S ¼ Corner Section 31-T84N-R3E, Jackson County (N ¼ Corner Section 6-T83N-R3E, Clinton County); thence in a northerly direction approximately 688 meters (2259 feet); thence in a northwesterly, westerly direction in the north part of Section 31-T84N-R3E to a point approximately 244 meters (802 feet) south of the NW Corner of Section 31-T84N-R3E; thence northwesterly and northerly through Sections 36 and 25-T84N-R2E to the south corporation line of the City of Maquoketa connecting with an unnamed street.

Maquoketa:

Beginning on an unnamed street at the south corporation line; thence in a northerly and northwesterly direction on said unnamed street to the north corporation line.

TITLE: US 61, Jackson County

DISCUSSION/BACKGROUND:

The City of Hurstville has voted the discontinuance of Incorporation effective December 27, 1985. The official description of US 61 in Jackson County should be revised to reflect this discontinuance action. The remainder of US 61 in Jackson County remains unchanged.

US 61 begins on the Jackson‑Clinton County line approximately 1 ½ miles south of Maquoketa, Iowa and travels in a northerly direction via Maquoketa to the Jackson‑Dubuque County line approximately ¼ mile east of Zwingle, Iowa.

PROPOSAL/ACTION RECOMMENDATION:

It is recommended to approve revising the description of US 61 in Jackson County and including the new description in the primary road system.

New Description ‑ US 61 and its' extension in Jackson County described as follows:
